Children in the full day Casa program and Elementary programs have their lunch at school. You may choose to provide your child with a nutritious lunch or participate in the catered hot lunch program. The nutritious catered lunch is offered through B & J Catering to those who wish to participate. There is a fee for the catered lunch. No peanut butter or nut products are to be brought to school. Candy, gum and soft drinks are not permitted. Lunch supervision is not available for children registered for the half-day class.

Outdoor Play

All full day children have 45 to 60 minutes of play outside in the playground.

Outdoor Clothing

"There is no such thing as bad weather, only wrong clothing." — Margot Waltuch.

Each child attending school for the entire day must be provided with a pair of running shoes, to be left at school, and appropriate clothing for the weather. Every item of clothing, including shoes, MUST be clearly marked with the child’s name.

Nasty Weather

School closings due to unsafe weather conditions will be announced over Niagara radio stations. A general rule is we close when the District School Board of Niagara closes.

Progress Reports and Parent/Teacher Interviews

Progress reports are sent home twice, in December and in June. Parent/Teacher interviews will be scheduled after the reports are sent out in December and June and also in February. Parents or legal guardians are required to attend the interviews scheduled.

Uniforms

All students must wear a complete CWS uniform. The CWS school uniforms are available at R. J. McCarthy Limited, 30 Thorncliff Drive, St. Catharines. All students must wear low-cut, simple black dress shoes.

Health

The school requires that all illnesses or absences be reported on the first day and subsequent days of absence. For the health of all our students, children with communicable illnesses cannot be sent to school.

Excursions

The Casa and elementary children enjoy many field trips during the school year. Teachers and CWS parent volunteers provide supervision on excursions. The fee for excursions is included in the tuition.
